Main game development advancement report #1

Permalink Report to webmaster

Near the end of 2022, after bringing up the minigame, we started the development of our main game.

The first preview was ready by the end of February of this year. We released internal binaries for Windows/Mac OS desktops and Android mobile devices so our staff helped the dev team on initial tests.

Some days later, on March 9, a second preview was released, and huge advancements were made on the user experience.

Some hours ago, a third preview was released, and it included major functions that were left unchecked.

Where we are now

We're still in the alpha stage, in active development of our main game. At this stage, only our staff and a handful of VIPs from our community can access the packages for download and run.

So far, the game has the next capabilities:

Create account and login

Users can sign up for new accounts and signi in with existing accounts.

In-game shop

Users can purchase card packs on the in-game shop.

Note: the in-game shop is tied to the cart in our website, so purchases can be paid with your ONIX balances. The desktop apps will have no restrictions for it, but Android and iOS (to be made) will have to be tied to their respective platform stores.

In-game marketplace

We integrated the Onix marketplace in our game, so users can see the cards put for sale there. We also provided a link to the website, so cards can be purchased and moved into your inventory from the Onix website.

Note: marketplace availability is subject to change on Mac, iOS and Android devices, depending on App Store policies.

Community info

We included a section with links to our Social Network channels and a feed of our Twitter account so users can take a quick look on what's going on in our community.

App settings

While testing on different devices, we noticed that some effects inflict stress in middle to low end devices. For that reason we added some controls to turn effects off when needed.

We also implemented volume controls and a chat toggle. Other controls will be added as needed.

A note about screen resolution

The interface is built to run on widescreen devices. -  the bigger, the better. But we added some mechanisms to scale things down when using very large (above 4k) or very small (E.G. high end phones with screen sizes below 6 inches, like the iPhone SE).

User profile

If someone needs to edit their profile, it can be edited on our website. We provided a link that will open a window on the profile editor so changes can be made.

We also provide wallet details, so users can see their HERTZ and ONIX balances, withdraw them, show deposit addresses and explore transactions.

Some things are missing

We have a list of things that need to be added before going to the next stage -open alpha-, and we'll inform when the pieces fall in place.

Battle

As we explain in our whitepaper, there will be two playing modes in our main game:

  • Free to play: users that don't own any cards will be able to play with compliment, non-NFT cards.
  • Arena: users that purchased cards will be able to create matches against other users. There will be a lobby where open matches will be listed for joining.

As of now, the Free to Play implementation is missing.

The arena UI is partially made, and the match creation form shows decks crated in the inventory.

When a deck from the list is selected, boards can be previewed. We have 5 so far, and you can take a glimpse on them in the next video:

Note: what you saw on that video are only previews, no actual functionality beyond placing some cards is there.

There's a lot to do

We're moving forward as fast as possible.

There is a not-that-short list of tasks to accomplish, and every day we bring things up and test them all before building the next set of downloadable packages (again, we're still in development, so only a few people can access them).

Side note: we added a page with our roadmap before publishing this article. You can take a look there to see our plans.

We plan to provide weekly reports from now on, and we'll try to stick to that for as much as possible.
